CILEx Level 6 Single Subject Certificate
This course enables students to achieve a recognised
national qualification in an individual subject of law, legal
practice or legal skill. The certificates can be useful if you
want to change to working in a new area of the law, take a
'refresher' course, or get a stand-alone qualification in a
distinct subject area. If you want to dual qualify as a solicitor
then these certificates can also be added to your CILEx level 6
qualification to build on your existing academic studies.
These qualifications recognise candidates' skills and
ability in a law specialism. They are best suited for those who do
not wish to go on and become full Chartered Legal Executive
lawyers, but who want recognition for their skills in a specific
professional area of law and legal practice.
The qualification is a valuable asset to any
professional paralegal or individual working in a legal firm and
specialising in an area of law or legal practice which requires a
qualification that demonstrably recognises their abilities at this
level in that specific area.
The qualification will, however, also act as
an important milestone for those candidates who do wish to move on
to becoming Chartered Legal Executives and Fellows of CILEx. The
Level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice is built up from candidates'
achievements in the Certificate qualification, and candidates will
be awarded certificates in Law for each unit of their achievement
towards the final Diploma.
For units 1 - 21, the qualification is
endorsed with the legal area in which it is undertaken, eg
CILEx Level 6 Certificate in Law (Contract Law).
For those candidates specifically interested
in perfecting legal skills, achievement of both units 22 and 23 is
awarded as CILEx Level 6 Certificate in Law (Legal
Skills). Because of the size of these units, candidates cannot
be awarded the CILEx Level 6 Certificate in Law upon achievement of
a single skills unit. The structure of the qualification is as
follows:
