I am self-employed, can I give undertakings?
There is no prohibition on anyone giving an undertaking.
However, if you are self-employed, you must not hold any
undertaking out to be a solicitor’s undertaking, and must be clear
as to your status.
An undertaking may not be accepted by the recipient if it is not
made by a solicitor.
If an undertaking is accepted, but not complied with, you may be
subject to disciplinary proceedings by CILEx Regulation, and a
civil claim by the recipient.
