The CILEX route is perfect for me as I can study in my own time and at my own pace as well as earning a wage in full time employment.

When I left school in 2003 I applied for various vacancies within my local area and was offered a position as an office junior at a local law firm. I progressed within the next couple of years and became a secretary to one of the solicitor’s. After 9 years working as a secretary I decided to start my CILEX journey. I now have my Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice and am currently working towards my Level 6 Higher Diploma.

It can be quite difficult trying to juggle a full time job in a busy office as well as fitting in time to study and have a social life, but I manage it. As soon as you start passing exams and become a step closer to your goal it spurs you on to work even harder.

I work for BGW Solicitors in Shepton Mallet and currently assist one of the director’s and the head of the conveyancing department with her caseload, I am also taking on my own cases in residential conveyancing as a fee-earner.

I would strongly recommend to anyone wishing to become a lawyer or wanting to progress within their current employment to have a look at studying with CILEX – my only regret is not starting it sooner!
