Apprenticeships in Law

Apprenticeships in Law

CILEX has been offering Apprenticeships to the legal sector since 2012. Yet for a long time before this we offered the only vocational route to qualification as a Lawyer; the professional route to qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive.  Over the last 5 years we have helped a wide range of employers and centres to deliver high quality Apprenticeships.  We have helped new Apprentices to take their first steps in the world of legal practice and existing employees to progress to the next stage of their legal career.

New employer-led Apprenticeship Standards were introduced in September 2016.  The new standards give employers more control over Apprenticeships.  You now have the power to select:

  • A training provider to deliver a programme of learning for your apprentices, and:
  • An End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) which will conduct an independent assessment at the end of the programme to confirm the competence of apprentices.

Work with CILEX and we can help you to lead the way in building the next generation of legal professionals.

Law Apprenticeship End Point Assessments

Every Apprenticeship finishes with an End Point Assessment which must be carried out by an approved independent End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAOs), before Apprenticeships can be certificated.

CILEX has been approved by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) as an End Point Assessment Organisation for the following Apprenticeship Standards in Law:

  • Paralegal (Level 3)
  • Chartered Legal Executive (Level 6)

CILEX will enter in to a contractual relationship with your chosen Training Provider.  The contract will detail the End Point Assessment arrangements.

Registering Apprentices for CILEX End Point Assessments

All End Point Assessments need to meet the Apprenticeship Standards set by employers and therefore be approved by the End Point Assessment Organisation. CILEX will work with Training Providers and employers to ensure that appropriate Assessments and resources are in place at the right time.

To enable CILEX to achieve this, we require employers or your designated Training Providers to contact us at the beginning of the Apprenticeship programme to confirm details of all registered apprentices.  You can read more about registering your Legal Apprenticeships with CILEX on the Apprenticeship Registration page.
