On successful completion of the Level 3 Paralegal EPA, employees will be qualified as a Paralegal, one of the fastest growing roles within the legal services sector. 

Background information

CILEX takes pride in its active contribution to the revisions of the Paralegal Apprenticeship Standard. Working collaboratively with employers and training providers, these efforts resulted in the publication of version 1.3 of the Paralegal Apprenticeship Standard and End Point Assessment (EPA) plan by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) in June 2023. This commitment to excellence underscores our dedication to shaping and maintaining high standards within the legal apprenticeship landscape.

The below resources have been designed to support the registration, delivery and completion of the Level 3 paralegal apprenticeship EPA:

Training providers are required to register apprentices, providing provisional Gateway dates, with CILEX a minimum of 6 months before the apprentice reaches the gateway.

The Level 3 Paralegal apprenticeship is made of two assessment methods:

  1. Professional discussion underpinned by Portfolio
  2. Project with Project Report output, Presentation and Q&A.

The EPA period typically lasts 12 weeks, starting when the apprentice is deemed to have met the Gateway requirements and ending with the release of the results.
