ILEX helps kick off National Pro Bono Centre road show

Pro Bono LogoThe National Pro Bono Centre (NPBC) is going mobile this year to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Pro Bono Week.

The road show starts with a ‘pro bono roundtable’ event in Bournemouth on 21 June. The event will focus on mapping local pro bono delivery and review the potential for local strategic partnerships.

ILEX Deputy Vice-President, Nick Hanning, who is also a Trustee of the South West Legal Support Trust and chair of a pro bono charity in Bournemouth, will help host the event which he hopes will show how important pro bono work is: “As the availability of legal aid shrinks, so the demand for pro bono help is growing. Co-ordination of resources is of critical importance so this initiative by the National Pro Bono Centre is very welcome.”

To help increase awareness of the National Pro Bono Centre and the importance of pro bono work, the Centre will then stop at key cities over the next few months on the following dates:

  • Manchester 27 June
  • Cardiff 4 July
  • Birmingham 18 October
  • London 7 November

The last stop on the road show will mark the start of this year’s National Pro Bono Week and 10th anniversary.

The National Pro Bono Centre houses the profession’s national clearing houses for legal pro bono work delivered in England and Wales: the Bar Pro Bono Unit, LawWorks (the Solicitors’ Pro Bono Group) and ILEX Pro Bono.
