Paris or Bust! The ILEX President gets on his bike for Charity

18 July 2008 pr028.08

Oh la la!! C’est magnifique. What a way to start a year. The new President of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), Mark Bishop, is marking the start of his presidential year with three days in the saddle, riding a bike from London to Paris with the aim of raising money for the charity, Retts Syndrome Association.

The ride will take place from July 18 to 21, starting in London.

“It may seem a strange way to some to celebrate the start of a Presidential year, but this is something that I have wanted to do for some time. Money is desperately needed to help families and to support research in to the care and management of this disease.

“Although it is hardly the Tour de France, this is the first time I will have attempted anything on this scale. When I am gasping for breath at the top of some massively steep hill, I will be buoyed up by the fact that I am doing so with massive support from my sponsors.

“I hope to raise a five figure sum. Thank you to all those who have already pledged support. It is much appreciated and of course, it is not too late for anyone else who would like to sponsor me. And if I complete the ride, I will be catching the train back.”

Retts syndrome is a complex neurological disorder that is genetic in origin and mainly affects females People with Retts are profoundly and multiply disabled and need extensive support throughout their lives.
