CILEx welcomes progress on rights for leaseholders

The Law Commission has announced initial proposals and future consultation on the enfranchisement of leaseholders. 

CILEx conveyancers often support leaseholders who find themselves trapped in houses with exponentially increasing ground rents, and little means of recourse. 

CILEx board member Mike Bowen FCILEx said: “The upcoming consultation from the Law Commission is a welcome step. They are to be commended for looking at this issue so swiftly, and their initial proposals are worthy of serious consideration. We hope this issue moves forward as quickly as possible to a fair and equitable solution for all concerned.”
