The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) are once again sponsoring the 2015 Legal Aid Practitioners Group Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) Awards. CILEx are backing the Criminal Defence category and nominations are now being accepted for all Awards.

Frances Edwards, CILEx president and family lawyer (pictured), said: “Legal Aid is a cornerstone of our justice system. In the face of cuts and challenges to our legal aid system, recognising and celebrating the work of legal aid lawyers is more important now than ever. We are truly proud to be a sponsor of the LALY Awards, and to play our role in championing the importance of access to justice.”

LAPG director, Carol Storer said: “LAPG is proud to organise the LALYs on behalf of the legal aid profession. The tougher things get, the more vital it is that we all recognise the work of those at the legal aid coalface, who continue to work tirelessly for the poor and marginalised, in the most challenging of circumstances.”
