CILEx backs Professions Week

CILEx becomes a founding body of Professions Week

20 August 2013

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) has become one of the founding bodies of Professions Week. It joins fourteen other organisations from a number of industries.

The first Professions Week, 21-27 October 2013, is designed to increase interest and awareness in the professions amongst 14-19 year olds. It will also support teachers and careers advisors giving them tools and materials to help young people make informed career decisions.

Commenting on the announcement Diane Burleigh OBE, Chief Executive of CILEx said: “We are delighted to be supporting Professions Week. CILEx delivers a vocational route into the legal profession and over the last 25 years has helped over 95,000 members secure a successful career in law, whether as a paralegal or lawyer. CILEx offers the only route to becoming a qualified lawyer without going to university and with the cost of degrees rising, CILEx is a cost effective and flexible alternative. Law graduates can also qualify with CILEx and there has been a 30 per cent rise in applications for the Graduate Fast-Track Diploma since 2012.”

Diane continued: “CILEx launched the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services earlier this year, and will offer a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship from September. We have received great interest from law firms looking to recruit school leavers to the legal profession by nurturing in-house talent and offering them an attractive earn-while-you-learn opportunity. Professions Week is a fantastic initiative which we believe will showcase the accessibility of the professions and we look forward to working with other like-minded organisations.”
