One of the most innovative features of the CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ) is the way in which trainees must demonstrate and record their work-based competence at each CPQ stage in order to complete each stage successfully. This not only allows trainees to demonstrate to their employers how they have put their learning into practice at each stage, but it also greatly simplifies the process of collating the evidence of competence that CILEX Regulation (CRL) requires in order to grant practice rights.
Trainees at each stage will need to evidence, via an online portfolio, that they meet the competences described in the Competency Framework that relate to their job role and the CPQ stage that they are completing. This evidence will then need to be validated by the trainee’s employer before the trainee can successfully complete each CPQ stage.
At Professional stage, the evidence will also be assessed against CRL’s Education Standards, thus allowing the trainee to be authorised by the regulator to practice in their specialist area of law.
