CILEx submission to the HM Treasury consultation for a new breathing space scheme and statutory debt repayment plan.

CILEx recognises the great potential that these proposals could have for empowering those who are in problem debt, but they cannot be properly implemented unless debt advice agencies are provided with adequate resources. In addition, it is important to recognise that effective debt recovery requires the interests of both debtors and creditors to be taken into account in promoting a ‘working together’ environment.
