Below is a summary of typical costs to train as a Chartered Legal Executive for the 2019/2020 year. Please note fees are subject to change each year.

Membership fees have not been included in the below overview.

At the end of Level 6 or the Graduate Fast-track Diploma, Graduate Membership of CILEx is achieved. To become a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer a total of three years’ Qualifying Employment is required (Qualifying Employment is often acquired while studying at the same time). During this period annual membership fees at the prevailing rate must be paid.

General notes:

  • These fees are for guidance only.  They are based on course, assessment, membership and exemption fees effective from July 2018 to June 2019, and include VAT where applicable. 
  • Additional expenses such as £10 administration fees for booking onto revision or skills sessions are not covered, nor is travel to external examination centres and any examination re-sit fees or additional membership years
  • In some cases students may wish to purchase an additional text for Level 6 law and practice units.
