CILEx offered a fresh approach to studying law as well as giving me the opportunity to work for a huge global law firm whilst gaining my qualifications.

I am currently undertaking the Level 6 Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship following completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Providing Legal Services.

After working at Clyde & Co for just under two and a half years, I am currently working in the Motor Volume Claims department and handle a fully litigated caseload. This has given me extensive experience of all aspects of the civil litigation process, from initial inception of a case through to conclusion. I complete investigations and assessments of cases using relevant legal resources, prior to preparing reports and suggesting strategies, as well as drafting all necessary legal documents. Progression through my CILEx qualifications and hands-on experience has allowed me to develop my practical skills whilst also learning the knowledge required to work in the legal sector.

Despite being tempted by the traditional university route following college, CILEx offered a fresh approach to studying law as well as giving me the opportunity to work for a huge global law firm whilst gaining my qualifications. I chose to study law through the CILEx apprenticeship route as I was keen to enhance my practical skills as early on in my career as possible, alongside gaining technical knowledge and I knew that undergoing a CILEx apprenticeship was the best way to do this.

I would advise anybody considering the CILEx apprenticeship route to grasp every opportunity with both hands and tackle any potential challenges head-on. Balancing full time work and exam studies can be difficult however always ensure that you utilise resources and support networks whenever necessary, whilst maintaining a high level of commitment, enthusiasm and organisation. Last but certainly not least; enjoy yourself! Greatness is achievable.
