Do I qualify to become a CILEx Assessor?
The Applicant :
- Is currently, or has recently taught the subject applied for at the appropriate level.
- Is or was a practitioner in the subject applied for.
- Has some level of knowledge of understanding of assessment.
Additional requirements:
- Excellent time management skills and meticulous in their approach to work.
- IT literate with access to a computer at home with broadband connection.
- Marking experience including e-marking.

Chief Examiner
- Be a law graduate or legal professional
- Be undertaking continuous professional development in the subject area to ensure legal knowledge is current
- Have current relevant assessment experience
- Be diplomatic and tactful with the ability to receive constructive criticism
- Be able to reflect on and evaluate own work
- Have the ability to exercise sound professional judgement
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Have good attention to detail
- Be organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Be open to regular interaction with CILEx Assessment Officers throughout the assessment cycle.
Reviser
- Have current relevant assessment experience including good working knowledge of the criteria for ensuring the validity of assessment and avoidance of bias
- Be diplomatic and tactful with the ability to provide constructive criticism
- Have the ability to reflect on and evaluate the work of others
- Have the ability to exercise sound professional judgement
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines
Scrutiniser
- Have current relevant assessment experience including good working knowledge of the criteria for ensuring the validity of assessment and avoidance of bias
- Confident to stress test assessment materials by producing mark scheme
- Be diplomatic and tactful with the ability to provide constructive criticism to chief examiner
- Have the ability to reflect on and evaluate the work of others
- Have the ability to exercise sound professional judgement
- Have good verbal communication skills
- Possess excellent attention to detail
