Our Role

At CILEx, our purpose is to enable people to follow their dream of becoming a legal professional regardless of the barriers that society and the traditional educational system puts before them. 

We are looking to recruit Six Pathway Leads to provide subject leadership on specialist legal pathways across CILEx Law School (CLS) Programmes. The subject areas that we are recruiting for are Dispute Resolution, Property, Family Practice, Criminal Practice, Probate Practice, Business and Employment. As a member of our friendly and supportive Law School team, you will take responsibility for a subject pathway, developing resources and supporting the teaching team to maintain the highest of educational standards.

You will be based at home, with the requirement to attend occasional meetings. A driver’s licence valid in the UK, vehicle and reliable internet connection are essential.


What We’re Looking For

We are looking for enthusiastic and inspirational subject specialists who share our passion for helping students achieve. The post holders will be subject matter experts with the ability to create engaging and innovative resources to support the new CILEx Professional Qualification. You will need to be proactive, a great motivator and an effective decision maker.

Your role will require you to:

  • Create engaging and pedagogically sound course texts and supporting learning resources
  • Develop Law School courses
  • Deliver engaging online teaching sessions with an emphasis on the development of practical skills
  • Support students in the development of their underpinning knowledge and workplace skills
  • Drive student engagement and success rates in your area of specialism
  • Manage freelance and employed tutors
  • Be the subject matter expert for your area of specialism
  • Represent CILEx and the Law School at external events

CILEx Foundation Trustee

The CILEx Foundation is looking to appoint a dynamic, experienced person to join the Board of Trustees. The new Trustee will hold the Fundraising, Sponsorship and Income Generation portfolio for the charity, this is a fantastic opportunity for a senior Charity Professional with vision in this area.

Who we are

The CILEx Foundation is a newly formed Associated Charity representing Members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, (CILEx). We aim to support aspiring and experienced CILEx Lawyers to achieve their full potential – this may be through support with their academic journey, help if they face unexpected hardship which might otherwise interrupt their work or studies, and encouraging them to broaden their career development opportunities.

CILEx Members are partners in law firms, they hold senior positions in-house and in local government and are also members of the Judiciary. They are different by design, and the CILEx Foundation aims to make the route to law accessible to all.

2021 will see not only the launch of some of our charitable activities and programmes, but changes to the way that the CILEx members we support, study and qualify. These are exciting times to join us. There is an opportunity to make recommendations and a real difference in setting the strategic course for this new venture. The current board of Trustees expect the fund to generate £1-2 Million in fundraising activities within the next 2-3 years.

In addition to general Trustee responsibilities, the successful applicant will also bring their fundraising experience to support the Board. Your knowledge of sources of income, forming ethical corporate partnerships, working with donors and making grant and funding applications will be vital for the ongoing work of the charity.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with a passion for ensuring high quality delivery of services and senior experience of fundraising, sponsorship/partnerships and income generation.

We are seeking a Trustee with the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising and income generation including, but not limited to, grant funding, corporate/charitable partnerships and donor engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an eagerness to engage proactively with the Board, both in relation to strategic decision-making, and ad hoc industry issues.
  • Knowledge of/experience in charity work, including compliance with fundraising law and regulations.
  • A passion for ensuring high quality delivery.
  • Experience of Scholarship and Bursary programmes would be an advantage.

This is a voluntary role for which no remuneration is payable other than out of pocket expenses. Trustee Insurance is provided. Trustees can expect to spend 1-2 days a month on Foundation Business

Trustee meetings are arranged quarterly and currently take place remotely, although travel to London or the home counties (Bedfordshire) for meetings may be required. Other ad-hoc meetings, (currently by remote means), may also be required.

We are currently recruiting for an Corporate Compliance Officer to join our Policy & Governance.

At CILEx, our purpose is to enable people to follow their dream of becoming a legal professional regardless of the barriers that society and the traditional educational system puts before them.

We are currently recruiting for an Corporate Compliance Officer to join our team.  The key purpose of the role initially will be to be embedded within discrete teams across the business, beginning with CILEx Law School, supporting the attainment of data protection compliance and process mapping data flows.

Main responsibilities

  • We are looking for someone with a passion for ensuring high quality delivery of services and experience of Data Protection legislation.
  • Ideally you will have the following:
  • To support the business in achieving compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (EU) 2016 and the Data Protection Act 2018. 
  • To provide dedicated support to specified teams in analysis and assisting with the rectification of data protection shortfalls.
  • To map data processes to identify what data is held and how it is used.
  • To create or review and update data held analysis documents and Data Process Impact Assessments.
  • To provide other related support including administration support, where appropriate,
  • To represent the Compliance Team at meetings and to deputise for the Corporate Compliance Manager and other colleagues at internal and external events where appropriate.
