Unit aim: The aim of this unit is to enable the
learner to gain an understanding of the principles of contract
law. The learner will develop the necessary knowledge and
skills to be able to:
- identify the essential elements of establishing
a contractual relationship enforceable at law
- analyse areas of contract law that may give
rise to disputes in contractual relationships.
There are two learning outcomes to this
unit:
Outcome 1: understand the key elements of a contract
The learner will be able to:
- explain the necessity for
agreement
- identify the requirements for
consideration in a contract
- explain the importance of intention in a
contract.
Outcome 2: understand the circumstances in which a
contract may be discharged and the main remedy on
breach
The learner will be able to:
- describe the circumstances in which a
contract may be discharged
- explain the remedy of
damages.
