*If more than 3 years’ work experience of a predominantly legal nature has been acquired or a relevant Level 2 legal qualification is possessed, the starting point will be as an affiliate member, not a student. The cost of affiliate membership plus first registration is £165, which should be substituted for the £95 figure.

At the end of Level 6 or the Graduate Fast-track Diploma, Graduate Membership of CILEx is achieved. To become a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer a total of three years’ qualifying employment is required (qualifying employment is often acquired while studying at the same time). During this period annual membership fees at the prevailing rate must be paid.

  • These fees are for guidance only. They are based on course, assessment, membership and exemption fees effective from July 2015 to June 2016, and include VAT where applicable. Fees may change in future years.
  • Additional expenses such as £10 administration fees for booking onto revision or skills sessions are not covered, nor is travel to external examination centres and any examination re-sit fees or additional membership years.
  • In some cases students may wish to purchase an additional text for Level 6 law and practice units.
