Graduates and Legal Accounts members CPD Guides 

2016/17 CPD Requirements

You must:

Undertake opportunities leading to a minimum of 9 entries, with at least 1 entry in professionalism.

Log your CPD onto myCILEx by 30 September 2017. 

Entries-based CPD

  • Entries can be from planned or unplanned activities (with a minimum of 5 planned entries for the year. This page will provide more information.
  • All planned entries should follow the ‘CPD cycle’: you will need to reflect, plan, act and evaluate.
  • Evidence will need to be retained to show that you have been through the CPD cycle that you have undertaken the activity for each entry.
  • Unplanned activities will also need to be evaluated; you will need to retain evidence that you have undertaken the activity in case your record is called for sampling.

Graduates undertaking Work Based Learning

As of 1 October 2015 Graduate members who are completing the work based learning scheme may make an application to CILEx Regulation to reduce the number of CPD entries they complete to five entries per CPD year, for a maximum period of two years.   Any reduction will be granted once their portfolio has been submitted to the CILEx Regulation offices.  Request must be made to CPD@cilexregulation.org.uk

Professionalism CPD

  • Your professionalism CPD should be an activity that maintains or develops your professional knowledge or skills.
  • It can be logged as an ‘entry’ on myCILEx when the new system goes live.
  • You will need to retain evidence that you have been through the CPD cycle and that you have undertaken the activity for your professionalism entry in case your record is called for sampling.

Sampling

  • You should retain all evidence for a minimum of 2 years in case your record is called for sampling.
  • We have provided some examples of the type of information you should retain.  Click here to view these documents.

Dispensations

These will need to be requested by contacting CILEx Regulation, on the basis that you

  • Have been absent from employment for at least 6 months of the CPD year; and
  • Can supply evidence to support your request 

Extensions

  • If you cannot submit your CPD by the 30 September deadline you will need to contact CILEx Regulation, requesting an extension of time to complete your CPD. This request must be received in writing by 31 August.
