CILEx and City & Guilds medal winners
21 February 2013
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
(CILEx) is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Annual
Prize winners and Medals of Excellence awarded to students studying
CILEx qualifications through City & Guilds.
The medals recognise students who have shown
exceptional performance and merit through their studies and are
nominated by their tutors.
The two CILEx Annual Prize winners are:
- Fay Whyte – Oxford & Cherwell Valley
College
- Shelby Powell – Eastbrook
Comprehensive School
Fay Whyte, who studied the Level 2 Certificate
for Legal Secretaries said: “I am extremely pleased with myself
that I have won this award but I wouldn’t be in the position I am
in now if it wasn’t for the help and support of my tutors and would
like to thank Mary Cope, my college tutor, for helping me through
this course, so that I was able to achieve my goal. It means
so much to me that my hard work and dedication was recognised by
them and CILEx.
“After completing the Legal Secretary course,
I now have the career I wanted. I started a new job in
January 2013 as an IP Legal Administrator. My new employer
was very impressed that I completed this course in such a short
space of time and achieved distinctions. I will be using my
qualification in my new job role on a daily basis.”
And Shelby Powell, who studied the Level 2
Certificate in Legal Studies, added: “I feel winning the CILEx
Annual Prize is a great achievement and I feel very honoured.
I did not expect to win and I was over the moon when I found out I
had won, when I opened the letter I nearly cried.”
And two runners-up were:
- Ms Kara Thwaites – Kingston
College
- Miss Jaymi Clark – Eastbrook
Comprehensive School
Winners in the Medals for Excellence category
were:
- Miss Lyahna Garry – Kingston
College
- Miss Harriet Stead – Bromley College
of Further & Higher Education
John Westwood, director of international
developments at CILEx, said: “CILEx is delighted to acknowledge all
of the winners in the various categories. It is just reward
for their determination and effort and will be good preparation for
their careers in the law.”
